HELP: My kali died!

everything was working fine this morning…then
i get a black screen with the cursor blinking…

My host is windows, and i have kali in vmware.
Is this a usual thing?
any ideas if i can fix it? need to get some files!
my snap is older…

crisis averted.

did you upgrade anything?

after the black screen pressing f2 f3 f4 can you get a terminal ?

i didnt upgrade anything bur kali upgrades daily (I think! )
My problem ,after a lot of researching, was that my VM run out of disk because of a huge upgrade that was going on without me knowing on the background.

You must be talking about the kali from oscp , i lost my minds with that and almost switched to the old practicing 64 bit kali. Very long annoying story short you have to downgrade the libidn2.0 library to a lower version AFTER reverting the machine. I suppose wget is not working either.

Hmm, i have no idea how to do that.
is there any tut about this procedure?

wget http://mirrors.xmission.com/ubuntu/pool/main/libi/libidn2/libidn2-0_2.0.4-1.1build2_i386.deb

sudo dpkg -i libidn2-0_2.0.4-1.1build2_i386.deb

After a revert , chances are apt and dpkg might be busy (ruining your updates) , remove the locks and downgrade manually.

many thanks.
