Easy way to turn Firefox proxy settings on/off via command line?

I have grown to despise having to turn on/turn off the proxy through Firefox's about:preferences tab. Is there any way to do this via command line?

  • Have you tried the foxyproxy extension? You can configure various profiles and white/black lists so that only IPs in a defined range get sent through the proxy. Its not cli but much more convenient than manually adjusting via prefs.
  • Foxyproxy is the way to do it. Click on the icon in the toolbar, select your proxy (or no proxy). Easier even then bouncing out to a commandline.

Not on HTB much for the next few months.

  • Alternatively, you can write a proxy auto-configuration file.
